Caroline Bowring
I am an Oxbridge Graduate and qualified French and Spanish Secondary School teacher offering private French and Spanish tutoring. I am passionate about both languages and teaching, and helping my students achieve the best results possible!
Born in Paris, I am trilingual (English/French/Spanish), having attended a French Primary school until the age of 10 when I moved back to England with my family. I studied French and Spanish at GCSE and then at A Level, going on to gain a BA Hons Degree from Oxford University in Modern Languages. I have worked in Spain as an English teacher and as Ryder Cup Secretary at the Ryder Cup in Valderrama.
I now live in Kent with my husband and two children (aged 16 and 13).
My Tutoring Services
GCSE/A Level tutoring
The majority (60%) of my work is GCSE and A Level exam preparation, helping your children gain a greater confidence in and understanding of the languages from Year 9 upwards. No two students are the same and I will tailor all sessions to their ability (and personality), ensuring they get the greatest benefit from our time together.
My clients range from those struggling with basic French and Spanish, but wanting to secure a strong pass, through to those on track for good mid-level grades but targeting 9s and A*s.
Whilst I am happy to host the tutorials at my home, they are mainly conducted via Zoom, and the feedback from this has been excellent.
My teaching style is fun and engaging and I have an approachable and open manner with all my students, which helps put them at ease and facilitates learning.
GCSE/A Level Assessment Service
I also offer French and Spanish GCSE assessments, where I provide and mark Writing and Reading exam papers and give you an honest assessment of the current level of the student. I will make recommendations as to the best route forward to give them the greatest chance of achieving their full potential.
Business
I teach business French and Spanish, mostly to UK-based individuals working within the legal and property industries. Clients range from those wishing to build stronger relationships with France/Spain-based clients and management teams, through to those seeking to win new business in French and Spanish-speaking countries, and wanting to make a stronger first impression.
My sessions are friendly one-on-one or small group tutorials and are bespoke to the individual’s specific needs and goals. It is helpful to have a moderate (GCSE or equivalent) grasp of the language, although this is not essential.
Sessions might include running through business articles related to the specific field of work or news items from the French or Spanish media. This provides a good framework to acquire the required grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation, helping my clients to operate on a more level playing field within their target country, rather than depending upon the goodwill of others to converse in English.
If you would like to contact me about any of the above, please e-mail me on carolinebbowring@hotmail.com or call me on 07957626225. I would be pleased to hear from you.
